Heavy Duty Cleaning

Day-In, Day-Out, Commercial Vacuum Cleaners Pay Off

BY JENN SCHNEIDER

Commercial vacuum cleaners are meant for heavy duty cleaning. Day-in and dayout, commercial vacuum cleaners can undergo as much use in a single month as household vacuum cleaners undergo in a lifetime.

Beyond durability, commercial vacuums have to perform in the areas of ease-of-use, worker well-being, service, maintenance and warranty.

“Convenience, ease-of-use and simple maintenance were mandatory priorities in the development of our vacuum line,” said Andre Motta, senior product manager for Rubbermaid Commercial Products.

Rubbermaid has recently introduced a line of commercial vacuum cleaners “designed to deliver years of reliable service and high performance,” added Motta. Motta cites dual motor, self-adjusting upright vacuum cleaners that feature automatic carpet height adjustment, improving worker efficiency and well-being by eliminating the need to manually adjust for different carpet heights.

Motta favors soft treaded wheels that glide across carpeted surfaces. And with a low profile, vacuums that allow the end-user to maneuver and clean under and around furniture with ease.

Equipped with electronic indicator lights that warn the end-user when the collection bag is full, or if there is a clog in the system, the user does not have to notice the red alert light, the vacuum automatically shuts down in 30 seconds to prevent the motor from overheating.

“This prolongs the life of the vacuums,” said Motta.

He said smart design includes built-in features, such as six-position brush height adjustment, 1.13 horsepower motor, 50-foot power cord for extra-long range, and a bag collar seal to prevent dust leakage. An easily removed agitator, easy-to-replace belts and bags, and easy-to-empty paper bag inserts allow for routine maintenance that can be performed quickly and easily.

With ultra light upright vacuum cleaners, stairways and/or steps are no longer diffi cult mobility obstacles. Less than 10 pounds, Rubbermaid engineers have designed a built-in, center balanced, “easy carry” ergonomic handle for safe and easy transport up and down stairs. There are no tools required for assembly and it cleans both hard and soft floor surfaces with ease, thanks to its large soft, non-marking outboard wheels.

Easy to Maneuver in Tight Spaces

Backpack vacuum cleaners are ideal for day cleaning because of their quiet operation and ability to clean effortlessly around obstacles.

Unique padded backpack harness systems alleviate body strain and reduce heat transfer. With the padded hip-and-shoulder harness, these lightweight and quiet backpack vacuums are quickly becoming an industry standard for high productivity and worker comfort. And with the backpack vacuums, cleaning high places and tight, hard to reach spaces can be done quickly, safely and easily.

If you need a wet & dry vacuum, Motta recommends a two-tank system with instant wet-to-dry changeover. The Wet & Dry Vacuums include cleaning tools and wand for easier cleaning in tight, hard to reach spaces—and a cart for easy maneuverability.

And with on-board tool storage, the end-user is prepared for any shop-cleaning task.

Service & Maintenance

When you invest in a piece of cleaning equipment—you want to know that there is a solid service and maintenance agreement behind it, as well as a warranty.

According to Motta, service plans ensure improved service via:

- Short lead times for replacement parts;

- Attractive labor reimbursement rates;

- Extensive repair network availability;

- Quick and streamlined warranty claim process;

- Efficient and professional service personnel;

- Quality repairs.

“We’re proud to introduce our new line of best-in-class smarter vacuums,” said Motta. “When it comes to product and ease of-use, this line delivers on RCPs’ promise to be the brand that professionals trust to help them work smarter.”
