BRECKENRIDGE, CO -- Breckenridge Grand Vacations (BGV), a family of resorts that has over 800 units under management in Breckenridge, Colorado, has made an extensive investment in PURO UV Disinfection Lighting, powered by Violet Defense technology, to disinfect its guest rooms, common spaces and employee offices and break rooms.

PURO, also recently contracted by the New York City Metro Transit Authority to disinfect their transit system, has conducted third-party testing to prove the system’s efficacy against bacteria and classes 1-3 viruses, including COVID-19.

The tests show a 99 percent effectiveness against bacteria and viruses, including norovirus, salmonella, e. coli and MRSA. The most recent test includes COVID-19 among the list of destroyed pathogens due to their UV Light Disinfection process.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, BGV owners, Mike Dudick, CEO, and Mike Millisor, immediately sought out the best new solution that would largely eliminate the possibility of human error from a consistent clean to ensure the safety of owners, guests and employees at their resorts in Breckenridge, Colorado.

They found their answer with Lakewood, Colorado-based PURO Lighting, which is frequently found in industrial locations, manufacturing plants, hospitals and other healthcare facilities as well as New York City’s Metro Transit Authority.

“BGV has established a comprehensive list of measures to ensure a safer stay for our owners and guests and provide an added measure of confidence for our employees. We plan to establish usage protocols and work with third-party labs to help design best practices in using the UV lights in our resorts,” said CEO Mike Dudick. “Safety and cleanliness are at the forefront of any conversation and will be long into the future. Our goal is to ease the minds of our guests and show them we have set a new standard in cleanliness. We are working to remove any fear from the vacation experience with the goal of creating lifetime memories and putting the smiles back on peoples’ faces.”

Utilizing exclusive patents and technology, this breakthrough UV disinfection solution includes the first known high intensity full spectrum UV fixture that can be installed in a ceiling, suspended, or wall mounted. The UV lights are currently installed at each BGV Resort in preparation for opening on June 1 (including the Grand Colorado on Peak 8, the Grand Lodge on Peak 7, Grand Timber Lodge, Gold Point Resort and the Breck Inn), giving staff the ability to disinfect any room of any size.

It can be used on demand or scheduled to run overnight and will be used at all BGV Properties between guest stays to ensure a safe and clean visit, as well as run frequently in all common areas including lobbies, spas and gyms.

“The use of full-spectrum UV disinfecting lights in the hotel and resort market is extremely forward-thinking, and Breckenridge Grand Vacations is pioneering the way for the entire industry, not just in Colorado, but the country,” said Brian Stern, Co-Founder of PURO Lighting. "It's a great way for Breckenridge Grand Vacations to protect against spreading viruses and prepare them to be at their cleanest well into the future."
