Brings Plant-Based Fiber Made From Hemp to Disposable Dry Wiper Market
ATLANTA -- In response to the continued demand for sustainable disposables in the industrial and foodservice segments, GP PRO has introduced its PB-Series plant-based disposable towels.

The Brawny Professional PB900 Cleaning Towels and Dixie Ultra PB900 and PB700 Foodservice Towels are comprised of 80% hemp and 20% reconstituted cellulose, replacing the company’s legacy F-Series flax towels.

Using wipes made from hemp fibers, which are derived from the stem of the hemp plant, can help end users meet their sustainability goals as hemp is rapidly renewable. According to the US Green Building Council, rapidly renewable materials include bio-based products made from plants harvested on a 10-year or shorter cycle.

The Brawny Professional PB900 and Dixie Ultra PB900 and PB700 wipes are certified USDA BioPreferred products (100% biobased); and the Dixie Ultra PB900 and PB700 wipes are also BPI-certified as commercially compostable only. Facilities may not exist in all areas.

“At GP PRO, we are always looking for ways to make our products better tomorrow than they are today, whether that’s improving their functionality, using plant-based resources, or helping to drive operational efficiency for our customers,” said Tyler Johnson, wiper category manager with GP PRO. “We believe our new PB-Series plant-based disposable wipes deliver on all of the above.”

Hemp fiber is known to be strong, durable, and absorbent, making the PB-Series wipes, with their waffle weave pattern, a high-performing disposable towel solution for a number of industrial and foodservice applications, from manufacturing to warehousing to front- and back-of-house.

Tyler added that customer input based on a GP PRO blind survey is favorable, finding that 96% of foodservice employees and 93% of industrial operators who use dry surface wipes in their work environment agree that GP PRO’s PB-Series wipes clean surfaces better than their current dry wipes. In addition, 96% of both foodservice employees and industrial operators agree the wipes absorb liquid spills better than their current wipes.
