ROSEMONT, IL -- ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, has partnered with PCs for People to donate retired IT equipment help protect the environment through responsible e-waste recycling.

On May 12, ISSA staff members at the Rosemont headquarters joined forces to load a truck full of laptops, monitors, printers, and other equipment destined for reuse and recycling. The donation was made possible through a connection facilitated by BetterWorld Technology, a managed IT service provider and sustainability advocate.

“PCs for People is a good organization, dedicated to safe e-waste recycling and repurposing equipment for those in need,” said Lou Centrella, senior director of technology at ISSA, and who has been actively coordinating the donation initiative. “We are doing good for our planet and people. We at ISSA are happy our partner BetterWorld Technology made the introduction to their partner company.”

PCs for People is a nationally recognized nonprofit that bridges the digital divide by providing affordable computers and internet service to low-income individuals. The organization fuels its mission by offering sustainable, no-cost electronics recycling and certified data destruction services to organizations looking to make a meaningful environmental and social impact.

The connection to PCs for People was established through BetterWorld Technology, whose introduction helped ISSA fulfill both its sustainability goals and its commitment to community engagement.

“I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for your contribution of computer hardware to PCs for People. Your support is invaluable in helping us bridge the digital divide and provide essential technology access to low-income households,” said Loren Williams, a representative from PCs for People.

E-waste recycling is an increasingly urgent priority in today’s tech-driven world. By repurposing used electronics, organizations can help conserve natural resources, reduce landfill waste, and prevent hazardous substances from contaminating the environment. As former U.S. President Jimmy Carter once stated, “Solid wastes are the discarded leftovers of our advanced consumer society…a serious economic and public health problem.”

ISSA’s donation highlights how corporate social responsibility efforts can drive real-world impact—benefiting both the environment and individuals in need of digital access.
