OAK BROOK, IL -- Ware Malcomb, an international design firm, has announced construction is complete on a new corporate headquarters for NTN Bearing Corporation of America in Schaumburg, IL.
Ware Malcomb’s Chicago office provided interior architecture and design, branding, furniture design and management, and graphic design services for the 36,000-square-foot project.
NTN Bearing Corporation of America is a manufacturer of precision bearings and related products, serving automotive, industrial, and aerospace markets. The company is part of Japan-based NTN Corporation, one of the world’s largest bearing producers.
“Early in the process, the team conducted test-fit studies to help the client select the optimal site based on program needs, hybrid work policies and the goal of downsizing from a 90,000 SF facility to a more efficient and creative space,” said Caroline McNulty, Director, Interior Architecture & Design, Ware Malcomb. “Our team designed a new single-floor headquarters that is open, adaptable and reflects a significant shift in workplace philosophy—prioritizing transparency, flexibility, and connection.”
The new headquarters features an inviting atrium and branded welcome center connected to a work café, as well as engineering libraries, coworking zones, and hospitality-forward amenities that encourage collaboration.
Open ceilings with floating acoustic clouds, natural finishes, and custom environmental graphics inspired by NTN’s precision bearing technology create a dynamic balance of engineering and artistry. Enlarged imagery of NTN’s patented bearings appears as sculptural and textural elements throughout the space, celebrating the company’s heritage of mechanical innovation.
“Guided by NTN’s principle of ‘Nameraka’—harmony and smoothness—we created a brand experience that feels intentional and connected,” said Debra Bryant, Director of Branding at Ware Malcomb. “Every detail reflects this philosophy while honoring NTN’s legacy of innovation.” The design integrates repurposed materials to reinforce sustainability and continuity, with custom signage and adaptive elements underscoring flexibility, organization, and future growth.
General contracting services for the project were provided by J.C. Anderson. Project management services were provided by Colliers. Business Office Systems (BOS) served as the furniture and demountable wall dealer.
Established in 1972, Ware Malcomb has office locations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. The firm specializes in the design of office, industrial, science & technology, healthcare, multifamily, retail, hospitality and public/institutional projects.
