SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- Vixxo Facility Solutions, a developer of intelligent facilities management for multi-site businesses, recently hosted an AI Innovation Hackathon at its headquarters following a transformational year.
The three-day event in October brought together a mix of employees from Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, Client Success, IT Development, and Solutioning with talented university students to imagine and build the next generation of AI-powered solutions for the facilities industry.
For Jim Reavey, CEO, the hackathon was more than an innovation exercise; it was a reflection of Vixxo’s DNA: evolving, learning, and leading through technology and the continued advancement of its AI journey.
“We’re excited to bring artificial intelligence deeper into our organization, not as a buzzword, but as a real, transformative force that empowers our teams, customers, and service providers,” he said. “AI is central to Vixxo’s vision of building an enhanced workforce that sets a new industry standard, and this hackathon is another meaningful step forward in our continued journey,” said Reavey.
In just a few days, teams developed innovative solutions advancing proactive and preventive maintenance strategies to keep assets performing optimally and minimizing downtime.
Since early 2023, Vixxo has jumped headfirst into the world of artificial intelligence, redefining how technology powers facilities management. Vixxo launched two groundbreaking AI engines that have set a new industry benchmark: VixxoVerify and ChatFPT (Facilities Professional Technician).
Together, these tools represent Vixxo’s belief that AI should empower people, not replace them.
“The teams far exceeded my expectations. I watched solutions come to life that will transform how facilities services are delivered to customers,” said Jim McCarthy, Chief Operating Officer of Vixxo. “In a matter of days, I watched some of the smartest minds at Vixxo take complex, real-world challenges and turn them into working solutions. The speed, creativity, and collaboration on display embodied exactly who we are as a company: bold, innovative, and relentless in finding better ways to serve our customers.”
This event follows a transformational year for Vixxo. The company rebranded to Vixxo Facility Solutions earlier in 2025, reflecting its expanded focus on technology-enabled facilities services. In 2024, it completed the acquisition of Cushman & Wakefield Facilities Solutions, further strengthening its vendor-managed maintenance expertise and national footprint.
For CJ Jernigan, President of Vixxo, the hackathon’s biggest success was seeing teams create tools that respond directly to customer needs. The event showcased how Vixxo can condense a six-month software development cycle into just days through AI-driven solutioning and agile facility service design. Jernigan, who previously led Cushman & Wakefield Facilities Solutions and currently serves as a board member and treasurer of ConnexFM, the leading membership organization for multi-site and retail facilities managers and supplier professionals, shared his excitement:
“We’re inspired by what our teams developed in just a few days. They created working prototypes designed to help our customers be more efficient and effective. Through Connex, I hear firsthand how our retail and facilities partners are seeking smarter ways to operate. With the tools and innovations born here, Vixxo will deliver even greater value and performance to our customers,” said Jernigan.
Vixxo Facility Solutions provides comprehensive facilities management solutions to multi-site convenience, grocery, restaurant and retail customers. The company's solutions include repair and maintenance for food and beverage equipment, HVAC/refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and other critical service categories as well as multi-site roll-out programs.
