ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) has awarded two J. Bradley Kennedy Scholarships this year, one to Corey Colbert, Construction Analyst at the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development, and Phoebe Pang, Operating Engineer at CBRE.
Established in 2011, BOMI created the scholarship to honor Mr. J. Bradley (Brad) Kennedy’s focus on excellence and his lifelong commitment to education. The annual scholarship is awarded to a student in pursuit of advancing their property or facilities management career.
“Professional development is one of the most valuable investments we can make in our industry,” said Jonathan “JJ” Jones, MBA, Chair of the Board at BOMI, and General Manager at FIRST ONSITE. “This year’s scholarship recipients have demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and career advancement, and we are honored to help support their educational journey through BOMI.”
Colbert has over a decade of experience in real estate, asset management, and building operations, with leadership roles spanning affordable housing, property management, and federal housing programs.
He currently serves as a Construction Analyst with the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development and holds several industry designations, including CPM, RPA, PMP, LEED Green Associate, and Certified Energy Manager.
“As a lifelong learner, I am committed to continuously strengthening my expertise in building operations and asset management,” said Colbert. “This scholarship provides meaningful support as I pursue my FMA through BOMI, allowing me to further my professional growth and contribute at a higher level within the industry and the communities I serve.”
Pang has over a decade of experience in building operations, HVAC automation, and facilities maintenance, with roles at CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield, and Siemens. A U.S. Navy veteran and current Operating Engineer in New York City, she is pursuing a degree in Information Systems while continuing to expand her expertise in building systems, energy management, and facility operations.
“This scholarship represents an important investment in my professional development and future within the facilities management industry,” she said. “Through the SMT/SMA designation with BOMI, I look forward to expanding my expertise, growing as a leader, and enhancing the value I provide to the buildings and organizations I serve. I am grateful for this recognition and the opportunity to continue advancing my career.”
Each scholarship recipient receives free tuition for any courses required to earn their selected BOMI designation.
