DURHAM, NC -- ServiceTrade, Inc., a field service management platform for commercial fire protection and mechanical contractors, has announced that co-founder Billy Marshall has returned as CEO, effective immediately.

In conjunction with Marshall’s appointment, ServiceTrade reorganized the business to streamline operations, improve its ability to serve its customers, and accelerate the pace of innovation in the age of AI.

Marshall co-founded ServiceTrade in 2012 and served as CEO until July 2024. Over the past two years, he has continued to support the company as a strategic advisor, staying close to ServiceTrade and its customer base.

More than 1,300 contractors rely on the platform to sell new contracts and projects and to efficiently manage their businesses across the service lifecycle.

“Our customers have more demand than they can service. They are in a bull market,” said Marshall. “To make the most of it, they have to sell better contracts and projects, deliver more revenue with scarce technicians, and get more value from every customer relationship. That opportunity is fertile ground for AI innovations paired with ServiceTrade’s core platform and data. I’m thrilled to be back leading this company.

“I want to thank William Chaney for his leadership and contributions to the company,” Mr. Marshall added. “During his time as CEO we launched Stella, our suite of AI agents, and we’re going to build on that progress. This work will include extending AI to more of the service lifecycle and to more contractors.”

Christopher Fountain, executive chairman of ServiceTrade and Frontier Growth Lead Operating Partner, said “Billy knows these contractors and this business better than anyone, and he has stayed close to both as a strategic advisor. “ServiceTrade has 14 years of commercial service data and more than 1,300 contractors running their service operations on it. Billy possesses a founder’s passion and the industry insights needed to lead the company’s next phase of growth.”

ServiceTrade applies AI directly inside service workflows to deliver explainable guidance and take action on next steps automatically, reducing manual work and operational friction so teams can scale efficiently. Today, more than 1,300 contractors rely on ServiceTrade to run more efficient service operations.
